When fighting my inflammation head on, I decided I couldn’t just rely on medicines to keep me well, I needed to support my body from every angle! I discovered Dr Weil and his food pyramid and followed it rigourously during my flare-up periods. Admittedly, as my Lupus and Arthritis are now in remission, I centre my diet around a whole foods diet now. This new approach still supports my body’s health, but also has opened up my diet to more “now-and-again foods” that I didn’t allow myself to enjoy when my conditions were active. For me that fun food looks like fries, a good pastry and banana splits. As I have chatted about in other blog posts; balance and living to your own body’s rules is key to any successful health rhythm.
